Montana Unleashed! Part 2

Montana Unleashed! Part 2 is a collection of 14 highly detailed airports, created using Abacus' EZ-Scenery, ExcludeBuilder, and Lee Swordy's AFCAD, scattered about the state of Montana, mostly in the middle to eastern half of the state. If you add in Part 1 and Part 2, you now will have 28 highly detailed airports to play with. These Part 2 airports are fairly small places from county sized airports with service by Big Sky Airlines (Beech 1900's) and FedEx feeders (Cessna Caravans) down to small municipal sized airports. I have also included the wind generator farm located just south of Jude in the St. Jude Pass. (19 miles NE of KHWQ).

These files were created on an AMD 2600+ 2GHZ PC with an ATI Radeon X1600 video card and tested on an AMD Dual Core 64bit 4200+ PC with an EVGA Geforce 8800 GTS video card. When frame rates started to chop a little on the 2600+ PC I would quit adding stuff (I could go on and on ya know....!) so the net effect is that these sceneries should run reasonably well on an older PC and like greased lightning on a new one. :-)

I spent a lot of time trying to get these airports as close as I could to what is really there. This was difficult given the lack of information for most of them. But, what I could discern from a Google satellite view should be there or close to what is really there. Many have exact markings and apron serfaces. I have also taken small liberties at most of the airports to "jazz" things up a bit.

To use these files you will need to have close to all of the EZ-Scenery object library files installed. If you don't have any of these files or not many, never fear as Joe Degregorio has been kind enough to download and host, on his website, just about 99% of the files ever produced. They are available in one giant download (192MB) with an installer that will place them in a nice neat and orderly fashion. Do me a favor and thank Joe for this when you get a chance. That was a giant job to collect them all like he did. The link to Joe's website is http://www.flightlevel390.org/ and the file is in the downloads section labelled "EZ Scenery Object Files". While you are there, download one or all of their excellent sceneries. I have them all myself! I have included screenshots of all the airports (2 of each airport), one of the wind generator farm in the St. Jude pass, as well as 2 screenies labelled Big Sky to show you what it looks like "out east". Most of eastern Montana is pretty flat with several large rivers. I thought this area would be boring to fly in but what I found is that if you fly using "Real Weather" you get some incredible weather patterns and cloud formations. Definitely a challenge! If you see something in the screenies that you are missing, just drop me an email. Please enclose a screenshot as a picture is worth a thousand words. :-)

I'd like to thank the following EZ Scenery Object authors. Without them, especially my good friend Sidney Schwartz, there wouldn't be much variation between each airport. Thanks guys!

Next, be sure you have no other scenery running, including AFCADS, for any of the listed airports below. If you do, back them up somewhere in case you don't like my stuff.
KPWD - Plentywood
KSDY - Sydney
KBHK - Baker
KOLF - Clayton (part 1 had an AFCAD for this airport that may be deleted)
KGDV - Glendive
KMLS - Miles City
KJDN - Jordan
KRPX - Roundup
KHWQ - Harlowton
S64 - Stanford
4U6 - Circletown
M75 - Malta
3U7 - Benchmark
1S3 - Forsythe (Tillet)

With the files I have provided, add the AFCAD files to the FS9/addon scenery/scenery folder as well as all the files in the Montana Pt 2 Scenery folder. You may also create a Montana Part 2 folder with a separate scenery folder within containing all the provided files and then add the new scenery folder to your FS Scenery Library as you would any other third party scenery. Again, your choice.

Some of the airlines that fly in this area which you may wish to add in to your AI aircraft are:
Big Sky Airlines and FedEx Feeders.
(PAI has both available on their website,)

If I have stepped on anyones toes I apologize although I don't believe I have. These sceneries were originally created for my own enjoyment with no intention of distributing them but they turned out pretty well I think and I believe you all will have some fun with them too! Happy flying and discovering all that Montana, gateway to Yellowstone and the Big Sky country have to offer!
